Take your eyes away from worthless things

Our eyes are marvelous gifts from our creator. What we see with our eyes have great power over what we feel. Satan realizes what we see with our eyes affects the heart. Ads and commercials appeal to the eyes to get persons thinking about the product being promoted.

Proverbs 4:24 Remove from yourself the crookedness of speech; and the deviousness of lips put far away from yourself. 25 As for your eyes, straight ahead they should look, yes, your own beaming eyes should gaze straight in front of you.

How do we protect our eyes?

There are 3 Bible examples of individuals who allowed their eyes to influence them negatively.

The first one is in Gen 3:1-5 Now the serpent proved to be the most cautious of all the wild beasts of the field that Jehovah God had made. So it began to say to the woman: “Is it really so that God said YOU must not eat from every tree of the garden?” 2 At this the woman said to the serpent: “Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat. 3 But as for [eating] of the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘YOU must not eat from it, no, YOU must not touch it that YOU do not die.’” 4 At this the serpent said to the woman: “YOU positively will not die. 5 For God knows that in the very day of YOUR eating from it YOUR eyes are bound to be opened and YOUare bound to be like God, KNOWING good and bad.”

The snake said you positively will not die, your eyes are bound to be opened. Eve looked at the tree in a different light after the serpant's encouragement. The fruit became something desirable to look upon.

The second incident was with the angels at Gen. 6:1 Now it came about that when men started to grow in numbers on the surface of the ground and daughters were born to them, 2 then the sons of the [true] God began to notice the daughters of men, that they were good-looking; and they went taking wives for themselves, namely, all whom they chose.
