My art space

I live in a drafty apartment that is about 7 years old, but the doors and windows have gaps. They charge what they do because it connects to the foothills, but besides that there isn't really any other reason for wanting to live here. But I'm really proud of myself, I got rid of all the "stuff" I'd been hoarding for years as a security blanket and because of that, I can now call this little closet my art space. It doesn't have electrical outlets but I have one screwed into the light socket. The lighting is great, I can see what I'm doing. I just love my space. This is in response to freebird's blog where she wonders what others art space looks like :).

I love looking at your art space--you're making the best use of every inch! We all need renovated barns or factories to be satisfied I think...I want my barn on the coast...

It's nice to have a dedicated space for making art. A closet is a great space as it doesn't have to do double (or triple) duty. My art space is in my bedroom so I have to leave space for my bed and when company comes (like now, over Thanksgiving) it becomes the guest room. That means I don't have my escape place till everyone goes home!

I wish I were as brave as you to dump some of my stuff. I'm finding I really don't enjoy sewing so perhaps I should get rid of the 6 file storage boxes full of material I have. I should, but, what if I should need some? That's my fear of going wanting showing up.
